Why did you start your business? What was it about this industry that excited you? Most business owners start their businesses because they desire personal freedom. They want to be their own boss. They have a great idea that they want to try. When one starts a business, their full of passion and excitement. It was like the first days of a new romance. All they could think about or talk about was their business. It truly is the most exciting time.
In the time since you started your business, you’ve been through a lot. You’ve worked hard. You’ve had some rewards and many setbacks and like in every relationship, their work required to make it work. Are you in love with your business? If your answer is no, we have some suggestions to help you fall in love with your business all over again.
1. Take some time away. Absence does make the heart grow fonder. Take a little time off and reconnect with the reasons that you started your business. Reconnect with the excitement you had at the start. Relive the dream. Let yourself feel what you felt at the start. Rekindle that passion and anxiety for something new. – Now, don’t take too much time away from your business, but a break from it will surly help.
2. Ask yourself what you love about your business. List the pros and cons of the past few months or year in your business. Doing this will evoke found memories and some sad. Use this time to reflect on what you could have done better or differently. Then focus on what you enjoy and appreciate what’s working. Develop systems to make the hard work easier. Work SMART. Revamp old habits and try something new. Source out your competition and see what they’re doing and figure out how you can do that but 10 x better.
3. Create a plan to get yourself and your business out of feeling blue. First, revisit your business plan, especially your business goals and objectives. Are you on track to living up to your business goals? If not, re-write your goals and objectives, include measurements and timelines to execute these goals. This is called accountability; this will fuel the fire to not fail a second time.
After you’ve followed up on your goals are objectives, check out your website and social pages, do they need a facelift? Maybe it’s time to change up the colour scheme or become more constant on social. Create a Social Media template and work on 1 months’ worth of content. Make sure your content is providing value / knowledge to your followers. Re-designing a website or logo is always fun. It’s a great way to take your experiences so far and channel them into a better and bigger brand.
4. Share your excitement. With your new plan and your renewed vision get out there and tell people about it. Share on social media or your newsletter that something new is coming. Share that you’re exciting or the new vision and direction your brand has taken. This will excite and build anticipation with your following, customers, clients, family & friends. Just like after your first dates when that’s all you’d All this hype and excitement will make you fall back in love with your brand. By seeing other people’s excitement, it will ignite your passion all over again. Plus, it will feel like you started a whole new business. It’s fresh, exciting and feels new.
