PR is a much needed but tricky service. We as PR professionals are very well connected, but that doesn’t guarantee that we get coverage.
The thing about PR is that we kind of fit into the sales and marketing team, but it’s not our job to ensure sales. It is our job to spread the word of your brand and business and get as many eyes on the prize as possible.
It is very important to stress to that clients know that, yes we may have established contacts and know a lot of influential people. We will do everything in our power to tell them about you. We will contact them. Send them high rise images and samples if they wish. We will scream from the top of the mountain about you and plug your product or service any chance we get. We guarantee that we will target the correct media for your brand and exhaust all our efforts to get your brand story heard.
However, we cannot guarantee that the media we pitch or people we speak to will cover your story. If they do decide to cover your story, we will guarantee that we will send them the correct information, images, and resources as possible. However, we cannot guarantee and increase of sales or followers for your brand or service. As a friendly reminder. Even if your story is picked up it is still not guaranteed until we see in on print, online or on TV.
Do let your clients know that you believe in their brand and believe that they have something that is a necessity in today’s society. Always keep the lines of communications open and honest. Be realistic about pitches and timelines. If you don’t believe you have enough time to garner the right press, say so immediately!
