So, your are just starting out or you’ve been in the game a little while and don’t have any clients. What is one to do? Well, there are plenty of things you can do to build your brand in the meantime. We’ve listed a few things to do while you wait.
Get the legalities of your business done! First things first, get your business affairs in order if you haven’t done so already. Get all the legal stuff done and out of they way. It’s also better to do it now when things are slow. Trust us, you won’t have the time when business is booming!
Fix your website: Now that you have a little down time, fix, update and work on your website. Make it your project. Dedicate a few hours to making it the best site possible. Remember your site is your first impression, so make a good one!
Curate content: There is no better time to write those blog posts or create those graphics for Instagram. You have the down time so now is the time to curate those posts. Create at least 3 months worth of posts. It seems like a lot, but trust us when we tell you it will be your saving grace. You can develop new content for a holiday coming up. Create a contest, write a blog post related to your trade. Record a new video or create fun graphics and posts for Instagram & Twitter. Whatever it is, get it done while you have the time.
Refine your business: While you have the down time, really invest and look at your business from another point of view. Maybe re-edit old forms or update policies. Get your business up to date with what is happening now! Make a foolproof plan.
Portfolio pimpin: Build up your portfolio, create as many mock samples of documents or things your are able to do for your client on paper. Have something to show new clients when they arrive! Create a fake client and build strategies and plans for them.
Become your own client: A lot of times brands forget to consider themselves when they are branding and building for others. Treat yourself like a client and implement strategies for yourself and do them in real time. That way you are building content and action for yourself as well as testing your own strategies. It’s better to fail on yourself than on a paying client!
Continue to master and build your brand: While you are waiting (And trying to get new clients) continue to master your craft. Study online or take classes as well as continue to educate yourself on your industry. Become an expert if your field. There is no such thing as too much knowledge!
